Apple Intelligence needs macOS 15.1 or later and an Apple Silicon Mac — if you're on an Intel Mac, it isn't available to you at all. Gist runs on macOS 14 and later, Intel and Apple Silicon alike. Beyond that: you can write your own prompts and save them as templates, bring your own API key for a frontier model when the built-in one isn't enough, dictate by voice, and send results straight into Obsidian, Bear or Notes.
